about Keiko Hayner...
Hello! I am Keiko Hayner. I am a freelance illustrator, located in Austin, Texas. Colorful, optimistic, delicate and feminine are the best words to describe my work. My art medium is primarily watercolor, but has recently expanded to digital art and block printing.
I have always loved to draw, paint and simply make something since I was a little girl. I graduated from Osaka University of Arts and obtained my BA in graphic design in 2004. Right after college I came to the United States and I was detached to art and creativity for a while.
After having a family I started questioning myself what I really wanted to do for my life. I knew in my heart that I always wanted to do something creative, but I didn't know where to start at that time. I started painting with watercolor in 2019 as a hobby and I realized how fascinating it was as I painted more and more. I started selling some prints to friends and family soon after and I decided to make this official as Keiko Hayner Illustrations in 2020 during the pandemic. I lost my job as a preschool/daycare teacher and this whole transition of my identity pushed me to pursue my passion toward art again.
Since then I have worked with small businesses to make logos and designs to help their companies before. I have been creating greeting card designs, editorial illustration, block printed products to challenge my creativity everyday.
I usually make a series of illustration works with my inspirations from listening to people's stories, seeing interesting events and objects in the world and simply sometimes my imaginations.
I am also a mommy of two precious children. They keep me busy, but they are the best source of my emotional energy as well.
Commissions are always welcomed! Please send me an email at email@example.com for any requests or questions.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy my work!
